Support Food Freedom & Consumer Choice in WY with HB 56

Use Email Petition to Contact Senators

The Wyoming Food Freedom Act (HB 56) would stop overregulation of locally produced foods typically sold at farmers markets and similar venues. As long as there is only a single transaction between the producer and the informed end consumer, there would be no government regulation or inspection. Meats would not be allowed to be sold in this manner, except for chicken. Chicken meat is already allowed under federal regulations.

Talking Points

The Wyoming Food Freedom Act would:

  • boost the rural economy by keeping money circulating in the local community.
  • uphold freedom of choice; people should have the right to obtain the foods of their choice from the producers of their choice.
  • increase food security by supporting local food production; locally produced food has a good overall track record for safety, and producers who interact directly with consumers exhibit greater accountability.
