More Info

UPDATE: House Bill 245 (HB 245) passed out of the House Human Services Committee on February 11, 2015. The vote in the full House could come at any time, likely Thursday, February 19.

It is currently illegal to sell raw milk in Montana. HB 245 would change this.

More Information

HB 245 aims to exempt small dairy herds (i.e., herds of lactating animals no more than 7 cows or 15 goats or 15 sheep) from the state prohibition on raw milk sales; exempted dairies with a permit may sell on-farm, direct to the consumer. HB 245 would also recognize the legality of herdshare arrangements and exempt them from regulation.
