URGENT: Next Step to Oppose Raw Milk Ban in Illinois
Call Members of the Human Services Committee Now

HB 4036 aims to ban all
raw milk sales and
distribution in Illinois.

Online Petition
Revised for all Illinois
Reps with emails

UPDATE 3/28/14:
Many Committee members voted "Yes" on HB 4036. Please call each one and let them know that you vehemently oppose it.
Today's the last chance for bills to pass--they may be meeting late into the night.

HB 4036 would ban not only the sale but even the distribution of raw milk in Illinois!

ABOUT THE BILL

As introduced, HB 4036 would simply replace "the" with "the" in the current statute (410 ILCS 39/1): "This Act may be cited as the Restroom Access Act."

This simple non-change is the pretext for Rep. Burke to slyly introduce the amendment to eliminate access to raw milk in Illinois by changing a different statute, 410 ILCS 635/8:

After the effective date of this Act, no person shall sell or distribute, offer to sell or distribute any milk or milk product for human use or consumption unless such milk or milk product has been pasteurized and has been produced and processed in accordance with rules and regulations promulgated by the Department.

The term "sell or distribute for use or consumption" means to sell or distribute to a person for human use or consumption and not for processing or resale in any form.
The language would replace the original exemption allowing unpasteurized milk "if sold or distributed on the premises of the dairy farm."

Protect your right to obtain raw milk in Illinois and speak up now!

My name is ___ and I am an Illinois resident. I am calling to urge you to vote "No" on HB 4036.

I am a raw milk drinker (or farmer) and should have the right to obtain (or sell) this nutrient-dense food.

The passage of this legislation would not only hurt local farmers and the local economy, but it would also hurt families that depend on raw milk as a nutritious food source.
