Both Boneta and the PEC will each have 20 minutes to speak. Anyone who attends the hearing will have the opportunity to speak for up to three minutes.

The Property Rights Rally and press conference will be held at the Bell Street Entrance by the Bell Tower prior to the hearing.

BACKGROUND

The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) has repeatedly overstepped its authority under the Virginia Conservation Easement Act. If the PEC is allowed to get away with its well-publicized and documented transgressions against Fauquier County farmer Martha Boneta, what is to keep it and like-minded power-hungry groups from violating the property rights of other Virginians in the Commonwealth?

The November 6, 2014 meeting of the Virginia Outdoors Foundation (VOF) in Richmond is crucial to ALL Virginians who care about liberty. When the public trust is violated, all law-abiding citizens are at risk.

Behind-closed-doors collusion between the well-connected and meddling local officials poses a direct threat to all those who adhere to the principle of transparency and the rule of law. This is why the PEC must be held publically accountable for its actions.

Once the public trust has been violated in one area, a terrible precedent will have been set, and there is nothing to keep well-funded groups like the PEC from trying to impose their will, through back channels, not just on farmers, but also on businesses and landowners throughout the Commonwealth.

We have been taught that we are a nation where the rule of law and respect for the Constitution are paramount and absolutely essential to the preservation of liberty. One way to help restore the nation our Founders created is to confront lawlessness when it raises its ugly head. Come to Richmond on November 6th and stand with your fellow Virginians in support of property rights.

WE CALL UPON the Virginia General Assembly to enact legislation necessary to reign in abuses of the Piedmont Environmental Council and other similar land trusts.

WE CALL UPON the Virginia General Assembly to establish a framework whereby the pubic interest is protected to prevent Land Trust agents from engaging in bad business practices.

WE CALL UPON the Virginia General Assembly to create fair business practices, consumer protections and sanctions when Land Trust abuse occurs.

WE CALL UPON the General Assembly to Enact Land Trust Reform to end welfare to the rich in the form of the sale of tax credits.
