The Biodynamic National Conference, "Biodynamics and the Future of Agriculture: Growing the Food Revolution," will feature a pre-conference workshop co-sponsored by the Weston A. Price Foundation on "The Benefits and Politics of Raw Milk."
Raw milk, one of the most primal and health-giving foods, is now at the center of the growing food rights movement and a storm of political controversy. How did this happen? Why is it so important? Where do we go from here? These questions and more will be addressed by an incredible panel of luminaries in the raw milk and food rights movement.
- Sally Fallon Morell (Weston A. Price Foundation) will explain the health benefits of raw milk and describe the long history of nutritional research into raw milk.
- David Gumpert (journalist and author of The Raw Milk Revolution) will illuminate the contentious political and legal landscapes surrounding raw milk and where things stand with the food rights battle in the present.
- Michael Schmidt (biodynamic farmer and raw milk advocate) will share lessons from his epic legal victory over the Canadian government, assuring his right to distribute raw milk to his farm members.
- Mark or Petra Zinniker (biodynamic dairy farmers) will give an update on their struggles to keep America's oldest biodynamic farm viable through raw milk and a new kind of consumers' association.

| David Gumpert (The Benefits and Politics of Raw Milk) is the author of The Raw Milk Revolution: Behind America's Emerging Battle Over Food Rights, published in 2009. Gumpert is a journalist who specializes in covering the intersection of health and business. His popular blog, thecompletepatient.com, has chronicled the increasingly unsettling battles over raw milk. He has authored or coauthored seven books on various aspects of entrepreneurship and business and previously has been a reporter and editor with Inc. magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and Harvard Business Review. The Summer 2010 issue ofBiodynamics featured an interview with Gumpert on the topic of food rights.
Sally Fallon Morell (The Benefits and Politics of Raw Milk) is the President and Treasurer of the Weston A. Price Foundation, president and owner of NewTrends Publishing and a frequent contributor to holistic health publications. She is also a journalist, chef, nutrition researcher, homemaker and community activist. Morrell is the author of Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats, a thought-provoking guide to traditional foods.
Michael Schmidt (Keynote Address: Food Rights and the Renewal of Agriculture and The Benefits and Politics of Raw Milk) has been a biodynamic farmer for over 33 years, with a masters degree in agriculture. Born in Germany, he came to Canada in 1983 and has been instrumental in massive changes towards the awareness of the cultural importance of agriculture. He was recently vindicated of all charges in his fierce, 16-year battle to legalize raw milk in Canada. A scholar of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, he continuously promotes and urges others to adopt civil disobedience and the non-violent approach in court and daily life. In light of the significance of the food rights battle, he helps farmers and consumer to be fully prepared to make real sacrifices in order to win this crucial rights battle for the sake of our children.
