The main sources of support for the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (the Fund) are private donations and dues from consumer, farmer and affiliate members. The Fund receives no funding from any government agency.
The Fund is dedicated to "defending the right to buy and protecting the right to sell nutritious food directly from the farm." As a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization, the Fund is able to allocate its funds to the defense of individual farmers and consumers as well as pursue public interest litigation; also the Fund is able to engage in lobbying which is otherwise restricted for 501(c)(3) non-profits that can accept tax-deductible donations.
