Carol Albrecht – Chaffin Family Orchards
Weston A. Price Foundation Chico/Butte Valley Chapter Leader &
Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense FundRAISER & Membership Recruiter

Under Carol’s leadership, the California Chico/Butte Valley Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation is hosting a Farmageddon Screening, FundRAISER and Membership Drive to benefit the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund.

Check out Carol’s unique approach!

FARMER PARTNERS

Carol has created a vibrant community of “farmer partners” – farmers whose farms she’s inspected and who participate, teach and exhibit at chapter meetings and events.  Farmer partners might be asked to present a workshop on fishing for wild salmon, raising grass-fed lamb or cutting up chicken. Farmer partners are invited to exhibit at chapter meetings, providing a seasonal update so that consumers know what is available and when.

Another unique approach is that Carol’s chapter turns around and supports the farmers with a “farmer coordinator”.  The farmer coordinator visits with the farmers, finds out what they need to succeed, and connects them with advice or support. Carol says “I figure if conventional ag can support these people we should do it one better.”

FundRAISING WITH FARMER PARTNERS

Carol set a bold target – she wants to enroll 100 new members in the Fund.

Here’s how she’s sure to meet her goal. She asked her farmer partners to provide coupons, discounts or free products to anyone who joins the Fund during her campaign.

In total, she’s collected $30 in coupons plus a $9 bottle of Chaffin Family Orchards Olive Oil to give to each new member.

So, folks from the Chico/Butte Valley area who join the Fund - paying the consumer rate of $50 or famer rate of $125, will receive $39 in valuable gifts and saving from the Chico/Butte Valley Chapter of Weston A. Price Foundation.

In turn, she is providing the farmer partners with exposure – email and coupon sheet call outs and a slide show thank you shown prior to the Farmageddon screening.

Thank you Carol for your innovative leadership!
