Item1American Culinary Fans Visit Slovenia to Taste the Local Food
Original article by Jernej Kosec and translated into English by Sylvia Onusic

American Sylvia Onusic, who organizes culinary tours to Slovenia, advises providers of quality Slovenian food and wine that they should improve their direct marketing channels. "Worldwide, there is sufficient demand for quality food production on a small scale as we know it on the sunny side of the Alps," says Onusic.

Item2FTCLDF Members Appear Before Virginia Supreme Court
by Pete Kennedy, Esq.

York County oyster farmers Anthony Bavuso and Greg Garrett had their respective cases argued before the Virginia Supreme Court on October 28. In each case, York County Zoning Administrator J. Mark Carter and other county officials were appealing rulings from the York County Poquoson Circuit Court that neither Bavuso nor Garrett needed a special use permit to operate a commercial oyster farm on land that included their residences. Tax-Deductible Donations Can Make a Difference, Too

The Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) is a true grassroots organization and receives no government funding and little or no corporate funding. Membership fees and private donations are our lifeblood.

Donations for public interest litigation (PIL) are tax deductible and can be made to the Farm-to-Consumer Foundation (FTCF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides grants to FTCLDF for administrative, criminal and civil cases that reach beyond the individual farmer.

Making Every Dollar Matter

FTCLDF receives calls for help against burdensome regulations, local ordinances and overzealous bureaucrats. The 24/7 hotline offers distressed farmers and consumers immediate access to legal assistance. When trouble escalates, PIL grants enable FTCLDF to take on cases like Vernon Hershberger's in Wisconsin, Randy Buchler's in Michigan, Anthony Bavuso's in Virginia, Alvin Schlangen's in Minnesota and tackle the issues that affect consumer access to the foods of their choice from the source of their choice.

  Buchlers of Shady Grove Farm

Together, we are shouldering the burden and making headway against stiff opposition with deep pockets! Since just one jury trial could easily bankrupt a farmer, members and donors have become the farmer's saving grace to keep them afloat and keep on farming!

Lawyers in the growing attorney network of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund offer their services either pro bono or at greatly reduced rates; thus, your donations have a multiplying effect.
