by August 8, 2014 to choose a specially selected thank-you gift!
We've had some big wins in the last 18 months, and we want to take a moment to celebrate those victories with the food freedom community. So, let's pause, give thanks and breathe in air that has been made even sweeter by the freedoms we've safeguarded together...even as we begin gearing up for more dark clouds on the horizon.
Let's take a look back and see how far we've come, before looking ahead.
protect farmers' rights to produce and direct market regulated and unregulated products
advance consumers' rights to obtain the foods of their choice from the source of their choice without the cost and limitations imposed by overregulation (e.g. farm-processed meats)
kickstart artisan food production with red tape navigation strategies for producers
support buying club start-ups to help consumers bypass the grocery store and wholesaler markup to leave more money in the hands of farmers...and consumers!
We've succeeded! Farmers got the most direct benefit of their membership dollars, and consumers joined in a supportive mode...ensuring that the FTCLDF had the funds available for when farmers got into hot water.
But now...the new peril hits closer to home.
In 2014 the FTCLDF will need to jump in and draw a hard line on the government's attempt to stop consumer food production in backyards with gardens, chickens and goats!
We kid you not. Consumers have become the new farmers, and our right to feed ourselves food we grow and raise at home is now in question.
Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, defends the rights and broadens the freedoms of family farms and artisan food producers while protecting consumer access to raw milk and nutrient-dense foods. Learn more About Us.
Membership benefits include the possibility of representation in court; the Fund typically pays for all court costs. The Fund is not an insurance company and cannot guarantee representation on all legal matters. Your membership fees and donations help to keep local food sources available and preserve family farms facing unjust enforcement actions.
