Annual Appeal FundRAISER 2014Support the Tireless Defenders of Food Freedom: FTCLDF! It's time to fill the coffers for the food freedom work ahead! We are grateful for the thousands of donors that backed the FTCLDF this past year. Yes, our attorneys do amazing work on behalf of farmers, artisans and consumers...but the donors that stood behind us, kept the coffers full and stoked the fires of food freedom, they...YOU... deserve a large part of the credit for every victory, every advancement and every vindication this year! When we all work together, we can do amazing things: - FTCLDF provided funding for lawsuits filed by member Mark Baker and others challenging the Michigan swine Invasive Species Order (ISO).
- Since the Randy Buchler case, FTCLDF has taken on three Right-to-Farm cases in Michigan to protect the rights of urban and suburban families to raise livestock and grow crops.
- FTCLDF successfully defended Amish farmer Christian Zook's right to sell farm products to members of a private food buyers club on his farm without having to comply with a cascade of cost-prohibitive regulations.
- FTCLDF member Martha Boneta was the driving force in enacting a law that exempts Virginia's family farms from needing local permits for on-farm activities and farm store sales.
- Working with Senator Jim Banks in Indiana, FTCLDF members Blaine Hitzfield and Pete Eshelman were instrumental in enacting legislation to expand sales free of local regulation for on-farm processed poultry from 1,000 birds to 20,000 a year.
- In defending Blue Hill dairy farmer Dan Brown against the state's challenge to the food sovereignty ordinance passed by eleven towns in Maine, FTCLDF was able to take the case to the Maine Supreme Court.
- FTCLDF member Anthony Bavuso was able to get a law passed that clarifies aquaculture as being a form of agriculture with the same protections as other Virginia farmers enjoy.
