Informational Meeting on GMOs Monday, October 6, 2014 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Annemarie Cantrell, GMO Free PA Co-Founder and Weston A. Price Chester County Chapter Leader, informed us of this meeting. Main Capitol Building, Room 140 N. 3rd Street Harrisburg, PA [directions] As many of you may know, PA has introduced bills for mandatory labeling of genetically engineered ingredients in our foods. Senate Bill 653 was introduced in March 2013 and House Bill 1770 was introduced in October 2013. Both bills have been stuck in their respective Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committees. House Bill 1770 currently has 60 co-sponsors and has been receiving more traction. The House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee will be holding an informational meeting this Monday, October 6th from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., as members consider GMO labeling. Information on GMOs will be presented by nationally recognized scientists. David Mortensen, PhD, Professor of Weed and Applied Plant Technology at Penn State University and Stephanie Seneff, PhD from MIT will be speaking about the health issues associated with the current use of herbicides. It's not known who is speaking in support of GMOs. If you are able to attend, please voice your support for a GMO-Free PA.
