112th U.S. Congress - House Bill HR 1830

HR 1830, a bill that would allow the interstate shipment of raw milk and raw milk products for human consumption, has been introduced by Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) and co-sponsored by Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME), Tim Walberg (R-MI), Tom McClintock (R-CA), Sue Wilkins Myrick (R-NC), and Scott Rigell (R-VA). Passage of HR 1830 into law would enable everyone to exercise their right to consume raw milk, whether they live in a state where the sale of raw milk is illegal or in a state where the sale is legal but sources are limited.

The consumption of raw milk is legal in all fifty states and growing numbers of consumers are crossing state lines to obtain raw milk and raw milk products. Given FDA's views on food freedom of choice as exemplified by the year-long sting investigation of a Pennsylvania Amish dairy farmer and the raid on the Rawesome Food Club in California, it is time to recognize that the federal ban is an unjust, unworkable law.
