Support the Wyoming Food Freedom Act and Consumer Choice - Email State Senators

UPDATE 3/3/15 - Gov. Mead signed HB 56 Today!

WY_FoodFreedom_StatueOfLiberty_SI0047

The Wyoming Food Freedom Act (HB 56) would stop overregulation of locally produced foods typically sold at farmers markets and similar venues. As long as there is only a single transaction between the producer and the informed end consumer, there would be no government regulation or inspection. Meats would not be allowed to be sold in this manner, except for chicken. Chicken meat is already allowed under federal regulations.

I urge you to vote YES on the Wyoming Food Freedom Act [HB0056]

Add your own comments; your message will also be sent to a local newspaper editor unless deselected. Follow up with an email via the Wyoming Online Hotline or make phone calls.

TALKING POINTS:
The Wyoming Food Freedom Act would
  • boost the rural economy by keeping money circulating in the local community.
  • uphold freedom of choice; people should have the right to obtain the foods of their choice from the producers of their choice.
  • increase food security by supporting local food production; locally produced food has a good overall track record for safety.
  • improve transparency and traceability of locally produced foods; producers who interact directly with consumers exhibit greater accountability.
