Really? Not to kill people with...before having a fair trial...or anything of a sinister sort? Who do you think you are?

It is both ridiculous and a waste of money to arm any regulatory bureaucratic agency. Recall the arms now and cut the budgets of any such department of government that feels the need to do so.

Please support law and order in our nation by requiring the federal agencies to go through normal law enforcement channels. Even without being armed they regularly overstep their responsibility in enforcing their regulations, not even law.

There is absolutely no reason for the USDA to have military grade weapons.

It is complete overkill to give these agencies access to this type of firepower. This is just setting up confrontations that can escalate into something deadly.

I do not understand why NO Democrat in the US house or Senate has the guts to stand behind this bill. It horrifies me, a life long Democrat, that Vermont's senators and representatives also support with silence and inaction the paramilitary arming of non-law enforcement government agencies with SWAT teams and worse. Is this what Vermont's farmers now face: full-body-armored tactical assault teams coming onto their lands? I hope not, but not very hopefully...since hope has not carried me far these past years. PLEASE stand up for the people, for what is right, and for what you once believed in.

Please do all you can to demilitarize our regulatory agencies and reserve such weapons and training to traditional law enforcement agencies. Thanks from your constituent in Coos Bay, Oregon!

Rep. Steve Sutherland is a co-sponsor, why aren't you? I'm depending on you to represent my concerns as one of your constituents. Regulatory bureaucrats don't need guns, they're likely to have itchy trigger fingers and are not groomed for this kind of action. We have peaceful family farmers and even homeschooling food co-op coordinators who have been corralled by gun toting law enforcement agents while being harassed by public officials from food and health agencies. We don't need unsupervised bureaucrats personally wielding the same power over our citizens.

The recent solicitation by USDA for submachine guns raises great and grave concern among farmers, local food consumers, and everyday citizens. Why would an agency responsible for regulating agriculture in the United States need submachine guns?? I do not believe that they should. I am asking that you support HR 4934 to demilitarize agencies like the USDA and FDA who are regulatory agencies and should not, by default, require such serious weaponry. I believe that we are putting agricultural workers and the citizens who support them at risk if we give the USDA submachine guns to use at will. If submachine guns are truly warranted, the USDA should go through the procedures to gain support from the Dept of Justice and leave the submachine gun use to those men and women whose profession it is to use them.

The recent solicitation by USDA for submachine guns raises concern among farmers and local food consumers. Why would an agency tasked with regulating agriculture in our country need such weapons? They don't. Demilitarize regulatory agencies like USDA and FDA, if necessary, such agencies can get armed back-up from properly-trained enforcement personnel like the FBI, U.S. marshals and local police.

I am disgusted that the USDA thinks it is necessary to be armed with sub machine guns. Violence is not and should not be part of their job. I am concerned about the intimidation tactics that they will try to use on our food growers. Please stop this madness!!!

Agencies such as the USDA and FDA which are responsible for regulating agriculture simply have no need of such weaponry, which both adds to costs and has the potential to unnecessarily escalate situations, particularly on local farms. While I as a citizen value their oversight, I find it extremely distasteful to turn inspections into armed raids on our food producers.

I am appalled that the USDA and other regulatory agencies are seeking to become armed, when they have never been armed before and have no reason to be. We have plenty of armed agencies in law enforcement to back them up when necessary. It is really starting to looking like the entire government wants to be armed against the American people as if we are the enemy. WE THE PEOPLE of this country are the ones with the true power. We need only recognize that fact.

There are already agencies for any reasonable situation that would require armed enforcement. As a voter, as a taxpayer, and more importantly, as a citizen, I ask you to support the demilitarization of non-military government agencies. I am tuning in to CSPAN for this one.

There is no reason that each US government agency needs it's own armed forces. That is why we have armed forces. Men and women trained to use these safely and appropriately. It is a waste of tax dollars and creates a more dangerous environment for US citizens to place weapons in the access of people who are not highly trained to use them safely and competently.

It is scary to think the FDA has use for submachine guns. Please support HR 4934 to demilitarize regulatory agencies and get our democracy back on solid ground again! Otherwise we are slipping into a military state little by little.

The USDA, a regulatory agency, does not and should never need weapons. They are not an enforcement agency and should not overstep their bounds. Please pass HR 4934.

The USDA is not the food police and should have no authority to coerce or force anyone with firearms. They were enacted to protect our farms and food system not to support large corporations in their pursuit of controlling the food supply.
